About — Summer Xu

Heeey, I’m Summer.

I’m a 7 YOE designer based in Toronto, Canada. People who know me often describe me as cheerful, sweet, and easy to work with.

Outside of work, I love exploring nature, wandering along trails, and slowing down to take in the little things along the way.

3D Animation Beginner!

My first film! 3D Animator

I love exploring new things. In 2025, I took my career gap and explored 3D animation, created my first (2nd, and 3rd) animated short, and participated in the 2025 Short Film Contest.

I GOT SHORTLISTED!! Although no prizes eventually, but it felt AMAZING to learn something 0→1, conquer the problems, and had a solid result. (without Ai, even, at that time).

2018

An unexpected beginning

Got hired on a hackathon!

In 2018, I joined a hackathon as my team’s designer and presenter—and we won first place! Our work caught the attention of one of the sponsors, which led to my first job at Jobster.io.

I joined as the founding designer. What started as a chance to make something together became a splendid beginning of my design career.
